Brazilian producers are negotiating hot dipped galvanized products (HDG) for export in a FOB price range of $820/mt to $840/mt, the same reference price since early November 2017, a local exporter told SteelOrbis.
In December 2017, Brazil exported 31,300 mt of HDG, 6.5 percent more than in November, with CSN exporting 15,300 mt at $810/mt, Usiminas exporting 10,100 mt at $882/mt and ArcelorMittal exporting 5,800 mt at $654/mt, all FOB conditions, with price deals closed around October.
The main destinations of December were the US (11,000 mt), Latin America (16,700 mt) and the EU (3,600 mt).
Meanwhile, Brazil imported in December 6,600 mt of HDG, of which 4,500 mt from China at $690/mt, FOB conditions.
In the Brazilian domestic market, HDG is currently sold by distributors at BRL 4,600/mt ($1,425/mt), ex-works, full taxes except IPI, having the Z-100, 1.11mm thickness product as reference. The price compares with BRL 4,500/mt two weeks ago, reflecting an overall readjustment of steel prices established by all local producers.
The last HDG offer received by Brazilian importers from China was priced at $680/mt, FOB conditions, a price stable over three weeks.
