Price inquiries accelerate in local Turkish HDG market

It is observed that price inquiries in the local Turkish hot dip galvanized coil (HDG) market have accelerated over the past week. Due to low inventories, Turkish buyers have accelerated their inquiries as they want to step up their purchases before a possible increase in prices, which is strongly expected amid the end of the downtrend of global flat and coated steel prices, the high levels of iron ore prices, and also due to higher hot rolled coil (HRC) quotations in Turkey. This recovery in domestic HDG demand is expected to continue in the short term, though at the same time it is expected to be a limited recovery since the economic outlook for Turkey still remains negative. Meanwhile, Turkish producers have kept their domestic HDG prices stable week on week.
