A source linked to a Brazilian producer told SteelOrbis that the reference price for the export of hot dipped galvanized products (HDG) to the US is currently $780/mt, CFR conditions for ports in the US East coast, having the G40 grade and 4.75mm thickness product as reference.
In the Brazilian domestic market, HDG is sold today by distributors, in small volumes, at BRL 4,819/mt ($1,164/mt), ex-works, full taxes except IPI, having the Z-100, 1.11mm thickness product as reference, stable in BRL from two weeks ago. Larger volumes or direct sales by steel producers are usually entitled to discounts.
The last import offer of HDG from China was priced at $700/mt, CFR conditions to a port in the south or southeast coast of Brazil, with the Z100/SGCC grade as reference, the same price over the last four weeks.
In September, Brazil exported 5,500 mt of HDG to Argentina at $969/mt, 5,000 mt at $722/mt to the US and 400 mt at $809/mt to Uruguay, all FOB conditions, with different quality grades and price deals probably closed in July. The exporters were Usiminas (9,000 mt), ArcelorMittal (1,500 mt) and CSN (400 mt).
Meanwhile Brazil imported in September 16,200 mt of HDG from China at $636/mt and 1,400 mt from Australia, also at $636/mt, both FOB conditions and different quality grades.
