Low demand has continued to be seen over the past week in the Turkish steel plate market, while prices have remained stable, but discounts are now on the table. "Price decreases are not helping demand to recover and we have highly-priced stock material now. Instead of more price declines, we are considering individual discounts to customers. For real buyers and depending on payment terms, it is possible to find discounts of up to $20/mt in the local market." A trader told SteelOrbis.
Erdemir's prices for plate are stable at $490-500/mt ex-works for S235JR quality and at $540/mt ex-works for S355 JR quality plates, for September production.
Discounts of up to $20-30/mt are also valid for import offers. Bulgaria’s Stomana Industry S.A. is in the market with $520-530/mt CFR for S235JR grade and $560-570/mt CFR for S355JR grade for September production. Offers from Metinvest have been heard after a long break and are at $480-490/mt CFR for S235JR grade and $510-520/mt CFR for S355JR grade for September shipment. In the shipbuilding plate segment, Macedonia-based Makstil’s price is at €470-480/mt CFR for August-September deliveries, SteelOrbis has learned.
