The fate of the US import HDG coil market remains uncertain, sources tell SteelOrbis, adding that offshore producers of hot dipped galvanized Galvalume coil are sitting temporarily on the sidelines, as they wait to find out whether they’ll be subject to tariffs or quotas, which would likely be retroactive to Jan. 1

“There’s not a lot that’s happening right now and most of the mills aren’t offering until they figure out what’s going on,” one source said.

The most recently heard pricing for US import 0.012”x40.875” G30 HDG coil from Mexico was heard at $60-$63 cwt. ($1323-$1389/mt or $1200-$1260/nt), ex-mill. Mexican mills, however, are expressing widespread concern about the possibility of quotas.
