The reference price for Brazilian hot dipped galvanized (HDG) exports is now $800/mt, against $730/mt two weeks ago, FOB conditions, having the G40 grade and 4.75mm thickness product as reference.
In August, Brazil exported a mere 650 mt of HDG, while importing 16,600 mt of the product, comparable to 5,500 mt and 11,800 mt, respectively, in July.
The volume of HDG exported in August was all destined to South American countries, priced in average at $753/mt, FOB conditions and different quality grades. The main exporters were CSN (260 mt), ArcelorMittal (170 mt) and an independent producer (160 mt), while a small volume was exported by Usiminas.
The imports came from China (15,800 mt at $607/mt), France (400 mt at $979/mt) and South Korea (200 mt at $646/mt), while small volumes came from Germany, Taiwan and Italy.
The last offer of HDG received from China was priced at $716/mt, the same as two weeks ago, CFR conditions for a port in the South or Southeastern coast of Brazil, with reference to the Z100/SGCC grade.
In the Brazilian domestic market, HDG is currently sold by producers at BRL 4,127/mt ($782/mt), against BRL 4,017/mt two weeks ago, ex-works, no taxes included.
