New price levels in local Turkish HDG market expected to gain acceptance

Demand in the local Turkish hot dip galvanized (HDG) coil market has weakened slightly during the past week as buyers have not yet accepted the new price levels after the increases announced over the previous two weeks. Market sources do not believe that Turkish mills will be willing to reduce their HDG quotations due to the ongoing increasing trend of hot rolled coil (HRC) prices, and so they expect the current price levels to be accepted in the short term.

Accordingly, domestic producers’ HDG prices in the local Turkish market, excluding 18 percent VAT, are at the following levels:

Product

Price ($/mt)

Weekly change ($/mt)

HDG   0.50 mm  100gr/m²

850-880

0

HDG   1 mm  100gr/m²

790-845

HDG   2 mm  100gr/m²

745-770

Meanwhile, Turkish mills’ HDG export quotations have increased by an average of $10/mt week on week to $855-875/mt FOB.
