This week, traders' prices for flat steel in Romania decreased due to poor demand and surplus in stocks, while the country’s only producer opted to boost prices due to inflation and rising cost prices despite being aware that sales would be fairly low in the coming days. Meanwhile, Romania's import interest has remained modest since the traders are unwilling to pile up excessive stocks.
The price of hot-rolled coil (HRC) with domestic origin in Romania increased by €55–60/mt over the week to €770/mt ex-works. In contrast, traders' price for hot-rolled sheets (HRS) has fallen to €845-900/mt ex-warehouse from €850-950/mt ex-warehouse in recent weeks. Meanwhile, in the import category, sources claim there is an offer from the US for HRS at €820/mt delivered.
On the other hand, domestic cold-rolled coil (CRC) prices in Romania surged this week to €890/mt ex-works versus €835-840/mt ex-works three weeks ago. Furthermore, the feasible price for cold-rolled sheets (CRS) dropped by €25-30/mt to €975-1,040/mt ex-warehouse.
Moreover, in the coated steel category, the domestic market prices for HDG and PPGI improved from previous weeks, with HDG pricing at €900/mt ex-works, up from €890-895/mt ex-works in previous weeks, and PPGI estimated to be at €1,250/mt ex-works in the fourth quarter.
