Over the past week, demand for domestic producers' products in the local Turkish hot rolled coil (HRC) market has continued to be characterized by sluggishness. However, Turkish HRC producers have increased their prices by $5/mt on the lower end and by $15/mt on the upper end to $630-650/mt ex-works, with support from strong demand for Turkish HRC in the export markets, especially in Europe, due to the increases in global raw material prices and due to the positive expectations as regards the future prospects for the Chinese HRC market after the Chinese New Year holiday.
Meanwhile, demand for domestic HRC in the Turkish spot market has also remained slack in the given week, while local traders' prices have increased by $5/mt due to the uptrend of producers’ prices. The domestic sales prices of traders for local hot rolled flat steel products in the Eregli and Gebze regions of Turkey are as follows:
