Due to availability problems and higher steel prices, flat steel spot prices in Turkey have increased by $30-40/mt since last Thursday. Demand is still strong in the market, but stocks are at record low levels and buyers are facing difficulties in meeting their urgent needs in the spot market. "We expected a problem due to low demand, but we are seeing very problematic market conditions now. Demand also has increased suddenly and prices have risen sharply. Some say prices are not healthy, but market conditions are also extraordinary and we believe prices will increase further because material availability problems do not seem likely to be resolved soon," a trader told SteelOrbis.
Since last Thursday, local spot prices have increased by $30/mt for HRC and CRC and by $40/mt for hot rolled pickled and oiled materials.
