During the week ending April 27, average Chinese domestic hot dip galvanized (HDG) prices have indicated slight fluctuations, with minor upticks for thin specifications and decreases for thick specifications, while transaction activity in the overall market is currently at medium levels. Average HDG prices in the local Chinese market are presented in the following table.
During the given week, after the previous significant declines, Chinese domestic hot dip galvanized (HDG) prices in the spot market have just fluctuated slightly following the increases seen in the domestic ferrous metal futures market and also amid the improved sentiment and rebound of prices seen in the domestic finished steel market. Meanwhile, demand from downstream users has improved ahead of the May 1 holiday, providing support for HDG prices. Liquidity among HDG traders is tighter approaching the end of the month. It is thought that HDG prices in the Chinese domestic market will remain stable in the week ahead.
