One of the leading Iran-based steelmakers has managed to close a tender for steel slab late this week. Accordingly, SteelOrbis has learned of a fresh tender for 30,000 mt of ex-Iran steel slab has been closed at $780/mt FOB BIK Port, for shipment in the middle of July. The final destination is expected to be China, with freight assessed at $40-45/mt. Although this price level points to a $30/mt increase as compared to the previous tender last month, sentiment in the segment has noticeably deteriorated due to the bearish mood which emerged in the Chinese flats market a week ago.
