Mirroring a situation seen last week, pricing volatility within the US domestic HDG market still has domestic buyers reluctant to book US import HDG and Galvalume coil.
Domestic prices ticked down again in the past seven days; current price points are down slightly from the same reporting period in 2018. Many buyers are still taking a wait-and-see approach to their purchases, as it’s not immediately clear if yesterday’s domestic flat rolled steel price increase, announced by Nucor, will take hold. A similar increase was announced today by US Steel.
In terms of import data, current information is still unavailable, as US government websites, while back online, have not been updated for more than 30 days due to the government shutdown.
