Steel distributors in Sao Paulo are negotiating HRC for the domestic market in small volumes at BRL 4,400/mt ($1,093/mt), ex-works, full taxes except IPI conditions, against BRL 4,182/mt two weeks ago. The price, reflecting a second increase recently announced by the steel producers, refers to the 1008/1012 grades, 4.75mm thickness product. It is usually entitled to significant discounts in case of large volumes or direct acquisition from the steel producers.

In August, Brazil imported 5,300 mt of HRC from China at $599/mt and 2,200 mt from South Korea at $699/mt, both FOB conditions.

The last offer of HRC received by Brazilian importers from China was priced at $618/mt, against $612/mt two weeks ago. Such price refers to CFR conditions to ports in the Brazilian south or southeastern coast, having the A36/Q235 grade product as reference.
