Brazilian producers are negotiating HRC exports with South American clients in a reference price of $760/mt, against $670/mt three weeks ago, FOB conditions for the basic commercial grades.
In December, Brazil exported 34,800 mt of HRC, against 3,800 mt in November.
The main destinations were South American countries (24,600 mt at $556/mt) and Vietnam (9,500 mt at $285/mt), both FOB conditions and price deals probably closed in September. However, sources say the price to Vietnam is reportedly not linked to market conditions. Small volumes were shipped to the Dominican Republic, Portugal and Mexico.
Meanwhile, Brazil imported in December 4,000 mt of HRC from Russia, in average at $507/mt, FOB conditions.
In the Brazilian domestic market, HRC of the basic commercial grades is offered at BRL 4,696/mt ($871/mt) against BRL 4,312/mt three weeks ago, CFR conditions, no taxes included. Such price refers to high and medium sized volumes of the product, when sold directly to large consumers or to distributors. The increase reflects chiefly higher international prices of the product.
