Brazilian producers remain negotiating HRC exports in a reference price of $450/mt, FOB conditions for the basic commercial grades, unchanged in the last week.
The Brazilian steel producers are currently operating at a 41 percent capacity rate as a way to reduce the volume offered and achieve a more favorable supply/demand balance.
In April, Brazil exported 53,100 mt of HRC, against 179,300 mt in March. The main destinations were South American countries (31,000 mt at $569/mt), Turkey (22,000 mt at $478/mt) and the Dominican Republic (100 mt at $508/mt), all FOB conditions, different quality grades and price deals probably closed in February.
The exporters were ArcelorMittal (45,300 mt at $499/mt), Usiminas (6,400 mt at $754/mt) and CSN (1,400 mt at $566/mt), all FOB conditions.
