Higher import plate offers to Turkey face low demand

In January, import plate offers in Turkey from Ukraine have increased by $20/mt, while offers from Macedonia have risen by $5/mt on the upper end and Bulgarian offers have remained stable, all compared to last month. The price increases are attributed to higher raw material prices. In the meantime, import steel plate demand in Turkey is tepid, as it also is for domestic material.

Currently, steel plate offers to Turkey given by Ukrainian steel producer Alchevsk Iron and Steel Works and another Ukrainian mill Ilyich Iron & Steel Works are now standing at $590/mt CFR. In addition, Macedonian mill Makstil's offers are standing at $720-725/mt CFR and offers from Bulgaria's Stomana are still at €500-510/mt ($668-681/mt) CFR. All the offers above are for February output, while the offers from Alchevsk are for April shipments.
