The reference price for Brazilian hot dipped galvanized (HDG) exports is currently $1,090/mt, FOB conditions, having the G40 grade and 4.75mm thickness product as reference, against $970/mt three weeks ago. The increase reflects the higher international prices of the product, coupled with intensive domestic demand.
In April, Brazil exported 30,400 mt of HDG, while importing 32,200 mt of the product, against 68,900 mt and 29,500 mt, respectively, in March.
The destinations of the exports in April were South America countries (29,800 mt at $796/mt) and Canada (600 mt at $1,023/mt), while the exporters were CSN (15,700 mt at $910/mt), Usiminas (11,000 mt at $662/mt) and ArcelorMittal (3,400 mt at $703/mt), while a small volume was exported by traders, all FOB conditions.
The imports came chiefly from China (27,800 mt at $689/mt), South Korea (2,800 mt at $832/mt) and Hungary (600 mt at $1,023/mt), also FOB conditions.
In the Brazilian domestic market, HDG is currently sold by producers, in medium to large volumes to end users or distributors, at BRL 6,801/mt ($1,303/mt), against BRL 6,412/mt three weeks ago, ex-works, no taxes included, an increase also dictated by higher international prices of the product.
