The reference price for Brazilian hot dipped galvanized (HDG) exports to South American countries is $1,420/mt, against $1,350/mt two weeks ago, FOB conditions, having the G40 grade and 4.75mm thickness product as reference.
In April Brazil exported 19,300 mt and imported 31,900 mt of HDG, against respectively 38,000 mt and 49,200 mt in March.
The exports of April were destined chiefly to the US (9,600 mt at $1,618/mt) and South America (4,400 mt at $1,242/mt), with lower volumes to the Dominican Republic and Pakistan. The exporters were CSN (12,500 mt) and Usiminas (6,600 mt), while a small volume was exported by traders.
The imports were chiefly from Asia (30,700 mt, of which 26,100 mt at $1,144/mt from China) and Europe (1,200 mt at $1,788/mt), all FOB conditions.
In the Brazilian domestic market, HDG is currently sold by producers, in medium to large volumes, to end users or distributors, at BRL 8,000/mt ($1,610/mt), against BRL 8,500/mt three weeks ago, ex-works, no taxes included.
