Sources tell SteelOrbis that negotiations for Brazilian slab exports for shipment in December are ranging from $595-$605/mt, FOB conditions, for non-us destinations.

This compares to $605/mt, under the same conditions, for the last deals closed for shipments in November, frustrating perspectives for higher prices for shipments in December.

There are indications that a local slab exporter has sold domestically 120,000 mt to Usiminas, at a price around the equivalent to $600/mt FOB, while CSN has reportedly imported 80,000 mt from Russia at $530/mt, CFR conditions, as part of a deal reaching a volume of up to 250,000 mt.

A source from CSN told SteelOrbis that their slab production remains at normal pace, adding that imports and local acquisitions of the product are alternatives to maintain hot rolling activities of the Volta Redonda plant at full operational capacity.
