Mainstream ex-China steel plate offer prices from mills have been heard at $820-830/mt FOB for January shipment as of today, Monday, November 29, edging down by $10/mt on average compared to $820-850/mt FOB recorded a week ago.
The reference deal prices have slipped by $10/mt to $810-820/mt FOB to South America and Southeast Asia.
During the given week, steel plate prices in the Chinese domestic market have seen slight rises amid the rebounding trend in HRC futures prices. However, demand for steel plate from downstream users has remained slack. It is thought that steel plate prices may move on a fluctuating trend within a limited range in the coming week.
Average Q235 20 mm steel plate spot prices in China have gained RMB 3/mt ($0.47/mt) week on week, at RMB 5,073/mt ($794/mt) ex-warehouse, according to SteelOrbis’ information.
As of November 29, HRC futures at the Shanghai Futures Exchange are standing at RMB 4,533/mt ($709.4/mt), rising by RMB 128/mt ($20/mt) or 2.9 percent since November 22.
