On January 3, import offers from China to Chile were reported as softening to $530-540/mt CFR for HRC, $605-615/mt CFR for CRC, and $640-655/mt CFR for HDG.

For the week ended January 13, import offers from China to Chile for flats are being heard as follows: HRC at $525-535/mt CFR, CRC at $600-615/mt CFR, and HDG at $635-645/mt CFR. This change reflects a decrease of $5/mt on HRC, a decrease of $5/mt on the bottom of the range for CRC, and a loss of $5/mt from the bottom of the range and $10/mt from the top of the range of HDG.

According to market sources, Chinese dealers are stating that prices may soon rebound to December levels due to Chinese policies to reduce steel production and pollution.  Of note, the marjority of offers were on the higher side of the ranges.
