Steel distributors in Sao Paulo are negotiating HRC for the domestic market in small volumes at BRL 3,700/mt ($998/mt), a price stable over two weeks.

The reference price refers to the 1008/1012 grades, 4.75mm thickness product, full taxes except IPI conditions. It is usually entitled to significant discounts in case of large volumes or direct acquisition from steel producers.

In May, Brazil imported 9,800 mt of HRC from Ukraine at $636/mt, 900 mt from South Korea at $668/mt, and 200 mt from China at $530/mt, all FOB conditions.

The last offer of HRC received by Brazilian importers from China was priced at $644/mt (against $638/mt two weeks ago), CFR conditions to ports in the Brazilian south or southeastern coast, having the A36/Q235 grade product as reference.
