Following the decision of the European Commission (EC) decision ahead of the Easter holiday not to impose any provisional antidumping duties on hot rolled coil (
HRC) imports from Brazil, Iran, Russia, Serbia and Ukraine, the volume of flat steel offers in
Europe has increased. However, despite the downward trend of domestic flat steel prices, buyers are in no rush to conclude new flat steel purchases and are watching the market instead amid the decline seen in the global flat steel market and also due to the increased number of flat steel suppliers. As a result, demand for flat steel in
Europe has remained at low levels during the past week.
Over the past week hot rolled coil (
HRC) prices have fallen by €20/mt to €500-550/mt ($545-600/mt) ex-works, while cold rolled coil (
CRC) quotations have declined by €30/mt on the lower end and €40/mt on the upper end to €610-660/mt ($665-719/mt) ex-works. Meanwhile hot dip
galvanized (HDG) coil offers in the region have moved down by €10/mt on the lower end and €20/mt on the upper end week on week to €630-680/mt ($687-741/mt) ex-works.
