Demand still weak in local Turkish HDG market

Over the past week, demand in the local Turkish hot dip galvanized (HDG) coil market has remained slack. As the downward movement of the prices of domestic hot rolled coil (HRC) - used as raw material in coated steel production - has been reflected in coated steel prices, Turkish producers have decreased their HDG prices as a result of price negotiations.

Accordingly, domestic producers’ HDG prices in the local Turkish market, excluding 18 percent VAT, have started to range at following levels:

Product

Price ($/mt)

Weekly change ($/mt)

HDG   0.50 mm  100gr/m²

690-730

↓10

HDG   1 mm  100gr/m²

645-680

↓10

HDG   2 mm  100gr/m²

610-635

↓10

Meanwhile, Turkish mills’ HDG export quotations have decreased by $10/mt over the past week to $680-720/mt FOB.
