CRC imports in Brazil are negotiated in average at $1,000/mt, CFR conditions, against $970/mt one month ago, according to sources.
In December, Brazil exported 11,600 mt and imported 32,500 mt of CRC, against respectively 2,400 mt and 33,100 mt in November.
The exports of December were all destined to the US (9,000 mt at $845/mt) and South American countries (2,600 mt at $1,257/mt), FOB conditions.
The exporters were Usiminas (8,300 mt at $931/mt) and CSN (3,200 mt at $943/mt), while small volumes were shipped by traders and by ArcelorMittal), also FOB conditions.
The imports were from Asia (31,800 mt, of which 28,100 mt at $843/mt from China) and Sweden (700 mt at $1,186/mt), also FOB conditions.
The imports were mostly (31,800 mt) shipped to states in the north and northeast regions of the country, reflecting the historical problems to transport steel products by large distances, usually by road, from the producers in the southeast region.
In the Brazilian domestic market, CRC of the basic commercial grades is now offered in medium to large volumes by the producers at BRL 6,700/mt ($1,296/mt), against BRL 6,500/mt one month ago, ex-works, no taxes included.
