During the week ending May 10, average prices of pre-painted galvanized iron (PPGI) in the Chinese domestic market have decreased, while transaction activity in the domestic market has been at low-to-medium levels. Average PPGI prices in the local Chinese market are presented in the following table.
During the given week, some Chinese steelmakers have increased their PPGI ex-works prices for May shipment, which has provided some support for PPGI prices in the spot market. HRC prices are at relatively high levels, resulting in high costs for PPGI mills. However, demand for PPGI is not so good at present. It is thought that PPGI prices in the Chinese domestic market will move down further in the coming week.
