Brazilian producers are negotiating the exports of slab in a range of $420/mt to $430/mt, FOB conditions for the base commercial grades, to Europe and Latin America, the same range over the last two weeks, a local market source told SteelOrbis.
For exports to the US, the source mentioned that the negotiations remain in the range of $430/mt to $440/mt FOB, with deals being closed primarily in the upper side of the range. Producers have previously unveiled expectations to close deals in the $450/mt to $460/mt FOB range, for deliveries to reach the US ports in January under US Section 232 quotas.
In August, Brazil exported 434,300 mt of slab, roughly the same volume exported in July; preliminary figures from the local customs point to a stable volume of slab being exported also in September.
