The Brazilian producers are negotiating slab export offers in a range of $415/mt to $425/mt, against a range of $420/mt to $430/mt last week, FOB conditions for the base commercial grades, with exports to Europe and Latin America, a local market source told SteelOrbis.

A second source, linked to a local producer, mentioned negotiations closer to $400/mt, under the same conditions, but it is not clear if deals were effectively closed in this level.

For exports to the US, the source mentioned that negotiations remain in the range of $430/mt to $440/mt FOB, with deals being closed chiefly in the upper end of the range, unchanged from last week.

In August, Brazil exported 434,300 mt of slab, roughly the same volume exported in July. Preliminary figures from local customs now point to a reduced volume of slab being exported in September.
