After having closed the last deal for slabs shipments in August in an FOB price range of $980/mt to $990/mt, the Brazilian exporters are now considering a range of $960/mt to $980/mt for slab shipments in September, which is in line with international prices.
Shipments in September were previously considered with $1,000/mt FOB as target, a price positively influenced by export tax imposed on Russian slabs exports, and also by slabs producers failing to achieve full capacity in different world regions.
Brazil exported 580,300 mt of slabs in June, against 464,400 mt in May.
In June, Ternium exported 174,500 mt of slabs at $903/mt to the US and 62,800 mt at $932/mt to Argentina, Pecem exported 160,100 mt at $808/mt to the US and 3,200 mt at $906/mt to Mexico, while ArcelorMittal Tubarao exported 132,200 mt at $861/mt to the US, 39,600 mt at $862/mt to Canada and 7,900 mt at $645/mt to South Korea, all FOB conditions.
Meanwhile, Usiminas imported in June 105,200 mt of slabs from Russia at 720/mt.
