A source linked to a Brazilian producer told SteelOrbis that the reference price for the export of hot dipped galvanized products (HDG) remains at $700/mt, FOB conditions, having the G40 grade and 4.75mm thickness product as reference.

In May, Brazil exported a mere 600 mt of HDG, comparable with 35,800 mt in April. All the volume in May was destined to South American countries, in average at $788/mt, FOB conditions.

Meanwhile, Brazil imported in May 13,900 mt of HDG, of which 13,390 mt from China at $563/mt and 300 mt from Australia at $476/mt, both FOB conditions and different quality grades, while smaller volumes were imported from Portugal, France, Taiwan, and South Korea.

The last offer of HDG received from China was priced at $673/mt CFR conditions for a port in the South or Southeastern coast of Brazil, with reference to the Z100/SGCC grade.

In the Brazilian domestic market, HDG is currently sold by producers at BRL 3,418/mt ($686/mt), ex-works, no taxes included.
