After a mere 300 mt exported in August, Brazil exported 11,000 mt of Galvalume in September, bringing forward a recovery previously scheduled for October.
The reduced volume exported in August is ascribed to an operational problem with one of the plants that produce Galvalume in Brazil.
All the volume of September was shipped by CSN to clients in the US, at a FOB price of $777/mt, with price deals probably closed in July, against $734/mt FOB for the exports of August.
The most recent export deals for Galvalume were reportedly closed in Brazil at $824/mt FOB conditions, around $40/mt less than the price negotiated four weeks ago.
Meanwhile, Brazil imported in September 10,900 mt of Galvalume from China at $617/mt, FOB conditions, against 17,000 mt at $575/mt FOB in August.
CSN and ArcelorMittal are licensed by BIEC to produce Galvalume in Brazil. CSN is more focused in the export market, while ArcelorMittal has preference for the domestic market.
