On April 15, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region-based Chinese steelmaker Baotou Steel issued its flats prices for May. The details are as follows:
1. Medium plate prices are down RMB 200/mt ($29/mt) from April levels. Thus, the new price of 20 mm Q235 is RMB 3,480/mt ($510/mt).
2. Hot rolled prices have decreased RMB 120/mt ($18/mt). As a result, the new price of 5.5 mm Q235 is RMB 3,280/mt ($481/mt).
3. Cold rolled prices have seen a drop of RMB 120/mt ($18/mt). Thus, the new price of 1.0 mm SPCC is RMB 4,130/mt ($606/mt).
4. Full Hard prices are down RMB 120/mt ($18/mt), with the price of 1.0 mm SPCC decreasing to RMB 3,830/mt ($562/mt).
5. Prices of galvanized coils have dropped RMB 270/mt ($40/mt). Following the adjustment, the new price of 1.0 mm ST01Z stands at RMB 4,180/mt ($613/mt).
All the above prices include 17 percent VAT and are effective from April 15, 2009.
