Capesize (Atlantic and Pacific) 

After the finish of the Chinese national holidays, Capesize market reported the main Chinese charterers back in the market although the levels of cargoes and vessels remained quite balanced. After a slow start, rates found some support by the market and remained quite flat till the closure of the week. In the Pacific waters the standard route from West Australia to China traded between $5.90/mt and low $6/mt while the other key route out of Tubarao to China passed from $12/mt to $12.5/mt and settled at low $12/mt in the end of the week. 
Very few cargoes were reported fixed from South Africa. The end of the week was largely flat but remained stable around the last done levels, giving the impression that current buoyant rates are going to last for more time.

Panamax (Atlantic and Pacific)

During last week an increase on the hire levels was seen in the Atlantic area where Kamsarmaxes now fixing around $11,350/d + $335,000 bb for trips via USG to F East via COGH. For a similar trip an 84,000 dwt has been reported fixed at $12,000/d bss Ghent delivery for 1 TCT via USG to SE Asia, while an 81,000 dwt has fixed at $13,000/d basis Rotterdam delivery for 1 trip via USG to F East. In Continent a 93,000 dwt was also reported fixed for basis ARA delivery for a trip via Baltic to Skaw-Gib redelivery at $8,000/d. 
In ECSA Kamsarmax vessels have been fixed around $9,000/d for trips to Skaw-Passero while for trips to F East similar sizes are fixing a tick below $12,000/d + $300,000 bb. An 81,000 dwt vessel fixed at $7,250/d + $225,000 bb basis delivery passing COGH for trip via ECSA to F East. Tick more are the levels seen for similar size fixing basis S Africa loading to China with rates around $7,500/d + $250,000 bb. In F East an 81,000 dwt has been reported fixing around $7,750/d for a NoPac RV basis Ulsan delivery, while for trips within Indonesia an 82,000 dwt has fixed $7,500/d basis Mariveles delivery for 1 trip via Indonesia to Malaysia. On the Period front Kamsarmax vessels are fixing around $7,000/d for 4-7 months period.

Handy (Far East/Pacific) 

The market remained at the same levels very of the previous week and another good amount of fixtures were reported concluded. The main interest was reported for Supramax and Ultramax coal stems from Indonesia to China. Supramaxes delivering Singapore were fixed between $6,750/d $7,250/d, while a large Ultramax agreed $7,500/d. Coal with Chinese destinations was also loaded from Philippines, where a 50,000 dwt agreed $6,750/d basis aps delivery. Otherwise, in a mixed basket of different trades, a Supra carrying nickel ore from Philippines to China with EC China delivery agreed $6,500/d, another similar unit delivering Singapore and redelivery China fixed an Australian RV with salt at $7,350/d. A 58,000 dwt was paid $8,500/d for a trip from Indonesia to India, while an Ultramax got $7,500/d from N China to MEG and a 50,000 dwt was fixed at a flat rate of $2,500/d for a long duration trip with steels from EC China to USG.

Handy (North Europe/Mediterranean) 
 
Not many fresh news from this area, the N European market for Supramax was rumored to soften meanwhile Handies were said to remain steady. In these waters, a 49,000 dwt with delivery Skaw and redelivery Atlantic fixed a 4/7 months period at $7,000/d. Grain export from B Sea support enough rates to remain unchanged. A 30,000 dwt delivering at Marmara Sea was booked at $8,000/d for a trip via B Sea to Algeria. Despite clinker trade to W Africa was reported to be less active, a tess-52 was agreed at a good $12,000/d with delivery Turkish Med.

Handy (USA/N.Atlantic/Lakes/S.America) 

Only few deals for spot business ex Atlantic Americas were reported concluded and rates did not show any significant change. An Ultramax was fixed for a trip to MEG at $10,500/d plus $150,000 bb, a 55,000 dwt non eco type with same delivery agreed $9,000/d plus $92,500 bb for a trip to F East. Another Ultramax was paid $12,750/d for a trade from USG to China and a similar vessel got $7,250/d performing a trip from Atlantic Colombia to Caribbs. Petcoke from USG was loaded on a 56,000 dwt getting $9,500/d meanwhile a smaller Supramax delivering in the area carrying scrap got $7,500/d for a trip from USEC to Med. . A 37,000 dwt fixed USG/Brazil at $6,500/d.

Handy (Indian Ocean/South Africa)

Some more interest for cargoes out of India ended into a Supramax fixed for a trip with salt from WC India to Indonesia at $5,500/d and a similar unit was fixed for a coastal business at $7,000/d. Coal from South Africa to India paid rates in the $12,000/d range. For the short period, a 57,000 dwt non eco type delivering MEG was done for a 5/7 months duration redelivery WW at $6,650/d.
