Zaporizhstal announces Jan-April 2009 production results

The Ukrainian steelmaker Zaporizhstal has issued its preliminary production results for the first four months of 2009.

Accordingly, during the period in question, Zaporizhstal decreased its finished steel production by 26.2 percent and its crude steel production by 26.6 percent year on year, to 897,000 mt and 1.085 million mt respectively. Zaporizhstal's agglomerate production went down by 15 percent year on year and its pig iron production declined by 24.5 percent. The respective figures in metric tons were 1.605 million and 900,000.

In April 2009, Zaporizhstal produced 400,000 mt of agglomerate, 266,000 mt of pig iron, 275,000 mt of crude steel and 236,000 mt of finished steel products.
