Workers put on layoff alert at California pipe factory

Pittsburg, California-based United Spiral Pipe has put approximately 100 employees at its East Contra Costa, California pipe factory on layoff notice due to weak order activity.

Depending on future orders, United Spiral Pipe has said that the East Contra Costa factory would remain in operation, however there is a possibility that all of the employees could be temporarily laid off at some point. The company currently employs a total of about 155-160 workers.
