Major Chinese major steelmaker Wuhan Iron and Steel Company (WISCO) has announced that it has started construction work on its new coke oven No. 6.

The new oven is the second seven-meter coke oven of the company. It is expected to be put into production at the end of this year, with an annual production capacity of 750,000 mt of coke. This is expected to provide some relief given WISCO's high demand for coke. Once construction is completed, WISCO's old coke ovens No. 5 and No. 6 will be dismantled, as stated by the company.
