Hubei Province-based Chinese steelmaker Wuhan Iron and Steel (Group) Corp. (WISCO) has announced that the construction of the China Guangfa Bank (CGB) building in Wuhan city has used over 10,000 mt of high-strength HRB 400 rebar produced by WISCO, accounting for over 90 percent of all steel used in the project. This project is the second-biggest rebar-consuming project in Wuhan, following the metro line No. 2 project in the city, which consumed 80,000 mt of high-strength rebar supplied by WISCO.

The CGB building with a total construction area of 102,600 square meters and with 51 floors is 210 m high.

WISCO is the only Chinese steelmaker which uses 200 mm x 200 mm continuous casting large billets to produce HRB 400 rebar. In 2010, WISCO’s HRB 400 rebar output volume totaled over 450,000 mt.
