On December 8, Hubei Province-based Wuhan Iron & Steel Corporation (WISCO) announced its ex-factory prices for January. The details are as follows:
1. HRC
Prices of common carbon HRC have remained unchanged from December levels. The prices of SPHC are down by RMB 100/mt ($15/mt), while prices of Q345R and Q235R container sheet have decreased by RMB 600/mt ($88/mt), with an upward adjustment of RMB 400/mt ($58/mt) made to high-strength sheet. Thus, the new price of 2.75 mm Q235 HRC is at RMB 3,250/mt ($474/mt), while that of 5.5 mm Q235 HRC is at RMB 3,140/mt ($458/mt).
2. CRC
Prices have declined RMB 120/mt ($18/mt) for common carbon CRC, while the price of other CR steels have dropped by RMB 240-800/mt ($35-117/mt). After the changes, the price of 1.0 mm Q195 CR sheet is at RMB 3,590/mt ($524/mt), while the price of 1.0 mm Q195 cold rolled coil is now at RMB 3,590/mt ($524/mt).
3. Medium plate
Prices have decreased RMB 400/mt ($58/mt) for common carbon, low alloy, and quality carbon; meanwhile, the prices of other medium plates are down by RMB 400-1,000/mt ($58-146/mt). Following the adjustment, the price of 14-20 mm Q235 medium plate is at RMB 3,520/mt ($514/mt).
4. Galvanized coils
Prices have decreased RMB 350/mt ($51/mt). As a result, the new price of 1.0 mm DX51D+Z is at RMB 3,723/mt ($544/mt).
5. Wire rod
The prices of common carbon are down by RMB 100/mt ($15/mt), while the prices of quality carbon have slipped RMB 50/mt ($7/mt).
6. Color coated
Prices remain unchanged from December levels.
All the above prices exclude 17 percent VAT and are effective as of December 8, 2008.
