Wheeling-Pittsburg restarts basic oxygen furnace

According to the statement released by Wheeling-Pittsburg Steel Corporation, the company restarted production at its basic oxygen furnace (BOF) yesterday. The furnace has not been operating for 12 days due to a breakdown. With the BOF and its new electric arc furnace (EAF), production levels are expected to reach to the levels before the incident. The EAF produced 7'500 tons of steel when the BOF was offline. Repair works at BOF are expected to be completed in 8-10 weeks.
