Shi Chunxian, director of the planning department of China’s Ministry of Water Resources, stated on March 26 that 142 out of 172 key water conservation projects have started construction, with the investment in the 142 projects in question exceeding RMB 1.0 trillion ($0.14 trillion).

“The Ministry of Water Resources has planned a series of important projects with good preliminary working conditions: for instance, there are more than 100 projects in the coming three years - these projects will have more than RMB 1.0 trillion investment ($0.14 trillion), with dozens of projects this year,” Mr. Shi stated. “Since there are no big environmental constraints for these projects, their construction will start soon,” he added.
