Vyksa’s LD pipe deliveries for Central Asia-China pipeline total 200,000 mt

Vyksa Steel Works (Vyksa), a subsidiary of the Russian pipe producer United Metallurgical Company (OMK), has announced that it has delivered 200,000 mt of large diameter (LD) pipes for the transnational Central Asia-China gas pipeline project, supplies for which were started in October 2008. Vyksa is to to deliver a further 60,000 mt of pipes up to September 2009.

To date Vyksa has completed deliveries of 158,000 mt of LD pipes of 1,067 mm and 813 mm in diameter with wall thickness of 15.9 mm for the Kazakhstan-China gas pipeline, which is a part of the Central Asia-China gas pipeline project. Meanwhile, the plant is continuing production and supplies of API5L-X 70 PSL 2 steel pipes of 1,067 mm in diameter with internal and external anticorrosive coating for the project's Uzbekistan-China pipeline.

The Central Asia-China gas pipeline will consist of two lines running from Turkmenistan's Samandepe field to China via Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. The pipeline will be more than 7,000 kilometers long, of which 188 kilometers will cross Turkmenistan, 560 kilometers Uzbekistan, 1,300 kilometers Kazakhstan, and 5,000 kilometers China.
