Voestalpine sees decline in net income for H1 FY 2012-13

Austrian steelmaker voestalpine AG has announced its financial results for the first half ended September 30 of the fiscal year 2012-13.
 
Accordingly, voestalpine's net income in the first half decreased to €270 million, down by 22.1 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. The revenues of the company remained at €5.9 billion, unchanged compared to the corresponding period of the previous financial year.
 
In the first six months, the company's EBITDA decreased by 11.5 percent year on year to €730 million, which is equivalent to an EBITDA margin of 12.3 percent, declining from 13.8 percent in the same period of the previous year.
 
In the steel division, investments in the first half rose by 18 percent to €111 million from €94 million in the corresponding period of the previous financial year.
