VLI, a logistics company owned by Vale, Mitsui and other minor shareholders, plans to get the early renewal of a railway concession that is used in Brazil to transport steel products, iron ore as well as other products.

VLI aims to get the early or the anticipated renewal of its Ferrovia Centro-Atlântica (FCA).

Brazilian authorities will put the issue for public consultation on January 2021.

The FCA concession VLI owns is set to expire by 2026, however, the company plans to extend or anticipate the concession contract for a further 30-year period.

In exchange, the company would make multi-billion-dollar investments to improve the railway’s infrastructure.
