VIZ-Stal to invest in mastering high permeability steel production

Russian steelmaker NLMK's subsidiary VIZ-Stal, a leading global producer of cold rolled electrical steel and the largest producer of grain oriented (GO) steel in Russia, has announced that it is going to allocate over RUR 3.5 billion ($104.9 million) in 2012 for its comprehensive technical upgrade program for GO steel production, almost triple compared to the previous year.

The company aims to complete the construction of a reversing rolling mill and continue revamping thermal treatment equipment to master high permeability steel production technology, improve product quality and increase production efficiency.

VIZ-Stal will also complete the construction of a natural gas reforming unit in order to increase energy efficiency.
