Vietnam’s steel output increases in January-August

According to the Vietnam Steel Association, in August this year Vietnam’s steel production totaled 2.08 million mt, down 1.15 percent compared to July and remaining stable compared to the same period of the previous year.

In the given month, the country’s steel sales reached 1.82 million mt, decreasing by 10.34 percent month on month and by 4.4 percent year on year. In August, the annual growth in steel production, excluding hot rolled steel production, decreased by two percent year on year.

During the first eight months of the current year, steel production in Vietnam increased by 6.2 percent to 16.83 million mt, while steel sales rose by 8.1 percent to 15.5 million mt, both compared to the same period of the previous year.
