Vietnam’s Hoa Phat Steel increases its steel exports in Jan-Aug

In the January-August period of the current year, Vietnamese steel producer Hoa Phat Steel’s steel exports totaled 116,000 mt compared to 12,000 mt recorded in the same period of the previous year, as announced by the Vietnam Steel Association (VSA). The company’s export markets in the given period were mainly the US, Canada, Australia and ASEAN countries such as Malaysia, Cambodia, Laos and the Philippines. Meanwhile, in addition to construction steel and wire rod, Hoa Phat also exported about 27,000 mt of billets in the first eight months of this year.

According to VSA’s statement, regarding the company’s Hoa Phat Dung Quat Iron and Steel Complex project, the legal procedures for project implementation and negotiations for the selection of contractors are now complete. Hoa Phat is also speeding up negotiations with European partners on the largest proportion of the total investment in the second phase of the project, which is the hot rolled flat steel production line with a capacity of two million mt per year and it expects to complete selection of contractor equipment during this month.
