Vale's iron ore exports up 2.5 percent in January-February

In February this year, Brazilian miner Vale's iron ore export volume totaled 22.02 million mt, down 11.2 percent compared to January and decreasing by 8.7 percent compared to February 2017, according to Brazil's National Union of the Industry of Extraction of Iron and Base Metals (Sinferbase). In the January-February period of the current year, Vale's iron ore exports increased by 2.5 percent year on year to 47.72 million metric tons. 

Meanwhile, in February this year Vale's iron ore sales in its domestic market amounted to 1.29 million mt, increasing by 22.2 percent year on year and down by 7.3 percent month on month. In the January-February period of this year, Vale's iron ore sales in its domestic market totaled 2.68 million mt, increasing by 25.5 percent as compared with the same period last year.
