Vale's iron ore exports up 1.0 percent in H1

In June this year, Brazilian miner Vale's iron ore export volume totaled 30.66 million mt, up 5.9 percent compared to June 2017 and increasing by 2.9 percent compared to May, according to Brazil's National Union of the Industry of Extraction of Iron and Base Metals (Sinferbase). In the January-June period of the current year, Vale's iron ore exports increased by one percent year on year to 158.58 million metric tons.

Meanwhile, in June this year Vale's iron ore sales in its domestic market amounted to 1.31 million mt, increasing by 12.5 percent year on year and down by 8.5 percent month on month. In the first six months of this year, Vale's iron ore sales in its domestic market totaled 8.4 million mt, rising by 28.2 percent as compared with the same period last year.
