Brazilian miner and iron ore producer Vale named Eduardo Bartolomeo as the company’s new CEO, after the company’s board appointed him in a meeting on April 29. Bartolomeo was previously nominated Vale’s interim CEO.

Spencer Stuart, a global recruitment company, had shortlisted Bartolomeo as a potential CEO.

Fabio Schvartsman, the former CEO, is now Vale’s “executive director,” however, he remains on a leave from the position.

Bartolomeo is a senior executive with 10 years of experience at Vale. He was also executive director of logistics, integrated operations of bulk commodities and more recently executive director of base metals in Canada.
